DUBAI, March 1 — Alireza Arafi was appointed on Sunday as the jurist member of Iran’s Leadership Council, a body responsible for carrying out the duties of the supreme leader until the Assembly of Experts selects a new leader.
A cleric and member of the Guardian Council, Arafi will serve on the temporary Leadership Council alongside President Masoud Pezeshkian and Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei.
