ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) has unanimously elected its office bearers for the 2026–27 term, with all candidates returned unopposed, reaffirming the confidence of the association’s members in its leadership.Mr. Abubakar Bin Tallat was re-elected as President of RISJA for another term.
Mr. Zulfiqar Baig was elected Senior Vice President, while Mr. Zahid Awan and Mr. Asgher Ali Mubarik were elected Vice Presidents.Ms. Ambreen Ali was elected General Secretary, Mr. Zeeshan Qayyum as Senior Joint Secretary, Mr. Awais Latif and Mr. Aqeel Anjum as Joint Secretaries, and Mr. Nasir Abbas Naqvi as Finance Secretary.The newly elected Governing Body comprises Mr. Faheem Anwar Khan, Mr. Gabriel De Souza, Mr. Awais Abbasi, Ms. Kiran Khan, and Mr. Asim Riaz.
Speaking after his re-election, President Abubakar Bin Tallat thanked the members for their unanimous support and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening sports journalism, safeguarding journalists’ professional interests, and promoting sports activities across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.Established in 1986, RISJA is the only registered organization representing sports journalists in the twin cities.
Over the past four decades, the association has played a vital role in promoting professional excellence, fostering sports journalism, and working for the welfare and rights of sports journalists. Under its newly elected leadership, RISJA is expected to continue its efforts to further strengthen the profession and support the country’s sporting community.
