Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today led the 59th ASEAN Day Celebrations at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat, highlighting a new chapter of regional cooperation and shared progress.In his welcome remarks, Dr. Kao emphasized three historic milestones shaping ASEAN’s journey: the admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th Member State, the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and the first year of implementing ASEAN Vision 2045: Our Shared Future.
Held under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the celebration featured a special pre-recorded message from ASEAN Chair and President of the Republic of the Philippines, H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.Indonesia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sugiono, also attended the ceremony and delivered an ASEAN Day address, reaffirming the region’s commitment to unity, stability, and stronger cooperation for the future.
