SCO to Launch 5G Services in Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK to Boost Digital Connectivity

ISLAMABAD: The Special Communication Organization (SCO) is playing a pivotal role in enhancing digital connectivity in the remote mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir by expanding modern telecommunication infrastructure.

As part of its ongoing efforts, the organization is set to introduce 5G technology services in both regions to provide faster and more reliable internet connectivity.Under the project, seven new 5G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) towers are being installed to strengthen telecom infrastructure and significantly improve network capacity in the mountainous areas.Officials said that during the initial phase, 5G services will be launched in five major cities of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, aiming to enhance high-speed internet access and communication facilities for residents and businesses.

The project has reached its final stage of completion and is expected to be finalized by June this year, marking a major milestone in expanding advanced telecommunication services and promoting digital development in the region.
