PTI Senator Waleed Iqbal called on Mr. Isphanyar Bhandara to offer his heartfelt condolences on the passing of his mother, Mrs. Goshi M. Bhandara. The meeting brought together two families with deep and longstanding roots in Lahore. Senator Waleed Iqbal, following in the footsteps of his parents, shared a close friendship with the late M.P. Bhandara. Murree Brewery was also among the young lawyer’s early clients when Senator Iqbal began his legal practice.
The gathering also evoked a remarkable chapter in the families’ shared history. Senator Waleed Iqbal’s parents had encouraged and persuaded the late Bapsi Sidhwa, Mr. Bhandara’s aunt, to self-publish her first novel. That early encouragement helped set her on a literary journey that would eventually make her Pakistan’s first internationally acclaimed novelist.
During the meeting, Mr. Isphanyar Bhandara also presented Senator Waleed Iqbal with a copy of his newly commissioned book, Pakistan Iconic Brands. The occasion thus served not only as an expression of sympathy and friendship, but also as a reflection on the enduring personal, professional and literary ties connecting two prominent Lahore families across generations.
