Islamabad, 17 September 2026: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has taken note of a report aired by GTV regarding the athletics track at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, and wishes to clarify the verified factual position concerning the facility.The athletics facility at Jinnah Stadium has been formally certified by World Athletics as a Class 2 Athletics Facility (Construction Category III) under Certificate No. S-23-0356-1, issued on 28 August 2026 and valid until October 2030.The certification confirms that the facility has met the applicable World Athletics technical requirements for a Class 2 athletics facility.
The facility was professionally surveyed by Kanstet Ltd., Estonia, while relevant materials/components were also subjected to testing by the Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR), as reflected in the PCSIR Test Report dated 19 January 2024.The World Athletics certification is a significant technical benchmark for the facility, particularly in the context of Pakistan’s preparations to host the 14th South Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from 3–11 April 2027.
PSB welcomes constructive scrutiny of sports infrastructure and remains committed to transparency and accountability. At the same time, technical matters relating to sports facilities should be assessed and reported on the basis of verified official records, technical assessments and recognised international certification.Pakistan Sports Board remains committed to maintaining and developing sports infrastructure in accordance with applicable technical standards and to ensuring the successful hosting of the 14th South Asian Games 2027.
