On March 17, 2026, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, departed for a friendly visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Prior to his departure from Ashgabat International Airport, Berdimuhamedov met with leaders of political parties and public organizations, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China. He noted that bilateral cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years.
The Turkmen leader also emphasized global initiatives on security, development, civilization, and governance introduced during recent sessions of China’s legislature, stating that these align closely with Turkmenistan’s own concepts of “Peace through Development” and “Dialogue is the Guarantee of Peace.” He further underlined shared efforts to revive the historic Great Silk Road and promote cultural heritage internationally.Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, Berdimuhamedov was warmly received by senior officials from both countries.
The airport was adorned with the national flags of Turkmenistan and China, reflecting the significance of the visit.The ongoing visit is expected to further deepen long-standing ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.
