SHANGLA:A dignified ceremony was held at the University of Shangla under the Ehsaas Shajar tree plantation campaign, highlighting the commitment to promoting a greener environment and ensuring environmental protection.The plantation drive was organized within the premises of the University of Shangla as part of the ongoing “Plantation Week” activities, in collaboration with the Alpurai Forest Division and the district administration Shangla.
The initiative forms part of a broader province-wide campaign in Khyber Pakhtoon khwa which aims to plant one million trees during the plantation week.The campaign has been launched in line with the special directives of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Minister for Higher Education, and the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, with the objective of combating environmental pollution and transforming the province into a greener and more sustainable region.The ceremony was formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University of Shangla, Professor Dr. Sardar Khan who planted a deodar sapling to mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that planting trees is not only an act of ongoing charity Sadaqah Jariyah but also a guarantee of a clean and healthy environment for future generations. He urged students and faculty members to actively participate in plantation drives and ensure the protection and proper care of planted saplings.The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Shangla, DSP Headquarters Alpurai, officials from the Alpurai Forest Division, university faculty, students, and other distinguished guests.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the growing impacts of climate change, stressing that tree plantation has become a necessity of the time. They noted that such initiatives not only help improve the environment but also raise public awareness about ecological preservation.At the conclusion of the ceremony, saplings were planted in different parts of the university campus. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to planting more trees and ensuring their protection and maintenance.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the support and collaboration of the district administration and the Forest Department, stating that only through collective efforts can the foundation of a green and sustainable future be laid. He also reiterated that the University of Shangla would continue to actively participate in such positive and environmentally beneficial initiatives in the future.
