US Vice President JD Vance Arrives in Islamabad for Crucial Iran–US Talks

Islamabad: US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Islamabad to lead the American delegation in high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran, being hosted under Pakistan’s mediation.Ahead of his departure, Vance said he is participating under the guidance of US President Donald Trump and expressed optimism that the talks would yield positive outcomes.The negotiations are scheduled to take place tomorrow in Islamabad. The US delegation includes Special Representative Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner, alongside Vice President Vance.Representing Iran will be Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated that visa-free arrangements will be provided to both delegations and accompanying media personnel during their stay.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inspected the venue and reviewed security arrangements ahead of the high-level talks.Delegates will be accommodated at a five-star hotel within Islamabad’s Red Zone.

Authorities have expanded the secured area from Zero Point to Faisal Mosque, covering key government buildings including Parliament House, Aiwan-e-Sadr, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Diplomatic Enclave.An Interior Ministry official confirmed that security in the Red Zone will remain under military control, with additional deployment of Rangers and police to ensure strict protection throughout the مذاکرات.
