Uzbekistan Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Rwanda, Expands Africa Engagement

Uzbekistan has formally established diplomatic relations with Rwanda, making it the 167th country with which it has official ties.The agreement was signed by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, through a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Both sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between their foreign ministries to establish a mechanism for regular political consultations, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.Officials said the development marks an important step in Uzbekistan’s efforts to expand its engagement with countries across the African continent.
