Pakistan Celebrates SCO’s 25 Years, Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Cooperation

Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Multilateralism at SCO Silver Jubilee CelebrationISLAMABAD, June 9 — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar marked the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) by participating in a dignified cake-cutting ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The ceremony was attended by resident ambassadors of SCO member states in Pakistan, commemorating the Organization’s founding and its enduring contributions to regional peace, stability, and cooperation.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism, emphasizing that the SCO has emerged as a vital platform for advancing peace, security, economic connectivity, and shared prosperity across the Eurasian region.He extended warm congratulations to the SCO member states on achieving this significant milestone and expressed confidence in the Organization’s continued role in fostering deeper regional cooperation and sustainable development.

Established in 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization comprises key regional players including China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and Central Asian states. Pakistan continues to play an active role in SCO initiatives, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, trade, and cultural collaboration.Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of collective efforts among member states to strengthen regional harmony and unlock new avenues of partnership under the SCO framework.
