President Prabowo Subianto declared that Indonesia is ready to accelerate its economic rise, telling leading global investors in Washington that the country is no longer a “sleeping giant” but a nation prepared to deepen partnerships and attract major foreign capital.Speaking at a high-level meeting with executives from 12 of the world’s largest investment firms during his working visit to the United States, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to growth, stability and reform. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani quoted the president as saying, “We’re not sleeping anymore.

Now is the time to rise together and develop our economy.”Rosan said the investors welcomed the administration’s policy direction, noting that recent reforms have enhanced Indonesia’s profile in global investment portfolios.Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir said participants particularly appreciated the government’s focus on strengthening legal systems and ensuring regulatory certainty—key foundations for long-term capital allocation.Investors also responded positively to the establishment of Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign investment vehicle, viewing it as a potential strategic partner similar to sovereign wealth funds they work with worldwide. Many expressed interest in entering the market through partnerships with Danantara.The 12 firms represented at the meeting collectively manage around US$16 trillion in assets, highlighting the scale of capital Indonesia aims to attract.During the session, Prabowo outlined his administration’s economic priorities, including improving the investment climate, maintaining macroeconomic stability and ensuring legal certainty to support sustainable growth. He also held one-on-one meetings with executives to explore specific areas of cooperation.

The president was accompanied by senior officials including Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce Chairman Anindya Bakrie.Indonesia has intensified efforts to court global institutional investors as it seeks to diversify funding sources, reduce reliance on domestic financing and advance industrial downstreaming and infrastructure expansion across Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
