ICCI Stands in Solidarity with Armed Forces After Border Aggression

Sardar Tahir Mehmood says business community fully backs Pakistan Army’s firm response, calls for respect of sovereignty and regional peace

Islamabad, February 27, 2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has strongly condemned what it termed as unprovoked aggression from the Afghan side of the Pak-Afghan border, describing the incident as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional stability.In a joint statement, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, and Vice President Irfan Chaudhry expressed grave concern over the reported nighttime attack on Pakistani border posts. They termed the act “highly condemnable” and reaffirmed that such provocations cannot shake the resolve of the Pakistani nation.

The ICCI leadership commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their swift and decisive response, praising their professionalism and unwavering commitment to national defence.Sardar Tahir Mehmood stated that Pakistan’s armed forces are among the most capable in the world and remain fully prepared to defend the country’s territorial integrity. He emphasized that the entire business community stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring stability.The chamber further noted that certain elements operating from Afghan territory, allegedly acting as external proxies, are attempting to destabilize the region and disrupt Pakistan’s peace and economic progress.

However, ICCI clarified that Pakistan’s position is not directed against the Afghan people, with whom it shares deep religious, cultural, and historical bonds. Instead, it stressed that any response is aimed solely at those involved in terrorism and activities threatening Pakistan’s security.Paying tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, the ICCI office-bearers honored their bravery and reaffirmed unwavering support for the armed forces.They concluded by stating that lasting regional peace can only be achieved through mutual respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and genuine collective efforts to eradicate terrorism in all its forms.
