Ishaq Dar meets Somali State Minister on OIC sidelines, pledges stronger bilateral cooperation in trade and technology
JEDDAH – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia, affirming full support for its sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. He also strongly condemned what he described as the illegal Israeli recognition of Somaliland as a separate state.
The remarks were made during his meeting with Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Mohamed Omar, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee held at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah, according to a statement issued by the DPM’s Office.The two leaders underscored that Pakistan-Somalia relations are anchored in deep-rooted historical bonds and shared religious and cultural values.
They expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral ties and agreed to enhance engagement at various levels.Both sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in key areas including trade, technology, education, and people-to-people contacts. They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely in multilateral forums, particularly within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to promote common interests and regional stability.
