Govt Bears Rs69bn Burden to Keep Fuel Prices Stable, Aurangzeb Announces

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced that the government has taken on a financial burden of Rs. 69 billion to keep petroleum prices stable and provide relief to citizens.Speaking at a press briefing, he explained that authorities are holding daily coordination meetings to maintain a steady supply of key fuels, including petrol, diesel, and LPG, nationwide. He emphasized that while efforts are being made to shield the public from rising costs, the country’s financial resources remain constrained.

Aurangzeb added that Shehbaz Sharif has instructed officials to take all possible steps to lessen the impact on ordinary people. He expressed optimism that supply chain conditions will improve by April, noting that the government is also focusing on managing demand and promoting energy conservation.Highlighting external risks, the minister cautioned that regional tensions or conflict scenarios could disrupt energy infrastructure. He further stated that the government is shifting toward targeted subsidies to ensure that assistance reaches the most deserving segments of society.
