JICA Promotes Women’s Empowerment, Female Participation in Training Programs Rises

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusive development by encouraging greater participation of women in its training and capacity-building initiatives.According to JICA Pakistan, empowering women is essential for social progress and economic growth. The organization has been actively supporting programs that provide women with knowledge, skills, and leadership opportunities, particularly through training programs held in Japan.As part of these efforts, JICA Pakistan has increased outreach to female government officers, encouraging their participation in JICA’s short-term training programs. These initiatives have shown significant progress over the past year.The share of female participants in JICA short-term training programs increased from 19 percent in 2024 to 27 percent in 2025. In the Knowledge Co-Creation Program (KCCP), female participation rose from 19 percent in 2024 to 32 percent in 2025.

JICA stated that strengthening women’s representation in technical and professional fields and enhancing their expertise through training in Japan will enable them to contribute more effectively to Pakistan’s development upon their return.The organization also emphasized that it will continue working with partner institutions to remove barriers, promote equal opportunities, and create a supportive environment for women professionals, aiming for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
