Defending a competitive total of 168, the Blackcaps dismantled Sri Lanka’s batting line-up to restrict them to 107-8 in 20 overs.Sri Lanka’s chase suffered an immediate setback when Matt Henry struck with the very first delivery of the innings, clean bowling Pathum Nissanka for a duck. The early breakthrough set the tone, and the hosts never truly recovered as wickets fell at regular intervals.Earlier, New Zealand posted 168-7 after being asked to bat first. Openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen provided a steady platform, putting on 30 runs and finding boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking.In the latter half of the innings, Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie shifted gears.

The pair counterattacked in the death overs, guiding the side past the 150-run mark in the 19th over. New Zealand now occupy second place with three points from a win and a no-result, boasting an impressive net run-rate of 3.050. Pakistan sit third with one point from a loss and an abandoned match, carrying a net run-rate of -0.461.For Pakistan to advance, they must overcome Sri Lanka in their final Super Eights fixture and rely on England to defeat New Zealand. Net run-rate could prove decisive — if New Zealand lose to England by 20 runs, Pakistan would need a victory margin of around 50 runs against Sri Lanka to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
