Oman, Belarus Strengthen Healthcare Ties with New Cooperation Roadmap

MUSCAT, Apr 2 (IN): Oman and Belarus have taken a significant step to enhance bilateral relations in the health sector as Omani Health Minister Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti met his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Khodzhayev in Muscat.During the meeting, both sides discussed areas of mutual interest and explored ways to expand cooperation across various health-related fields.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a comprehensive roadmap aimed at strengthening collaboration in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.The agreement outlines a legal framework for cooperation and focuses on critical areas such as regulation of medical care, medical education, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.Dr. Hilal emphasized that international cooperation remains a cornerstone of Oman’s strategy to benefit from global expertise and experiences.

He noted that the Belarusian minister’s visit is part of ongoing exchanges between the two countries, following an earlier visit by Omani health officials to Belarus where a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed.He added that the MoU is already producing tangible results through various joint initiatives.

Oman is particularly interested in learning from Belarus’s advanced expertise in oncology, cardiology, organ transplantation, and pharmaceutical industries, while Belarus is also keen to benefit from Oman’s healthcare experience.During the visit, the Belarusian delegation toured the National Centre for Virtual Health, where they were briefed on its operations and role in modern healthcare delivery.

The delegation also visited the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, observing their advanced medical facilities and specialized departments.The visiting minister was introduced to state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, as well as innovative healthcare services provided by these institutions, which are considered on par with leading global health centers.
