Pakistan, Bangladesh Reaffirm Strong Ties at 55th Independence Day Reception in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (IN): The Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad on Tuesday hosted a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 55th Independence and National Day of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, drawing a large gathering of dignitaries, diplomats, and civil society members.The reception and dinner, held at a local hotel, were hosted by Bangladesh High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan, who, along with mission officials, warmly welcomed the guests.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain attended the event as the chief guest. The ceremony was also graced by Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Kundi, federal ministers, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, parliamentarians, ambassadors and high commissioners, representatives of international organizations, senior civil and military officials, business leaders, journalists, and members of the Bangladeshi community.The event began with the national anthems of Bangladesh and Pakistan, symbolizing mutual respect and friendship between the two nations.In his remarks, Rana Tanveer Hussain extended congratulations to the government and people of Bangladesh on their Independence and National Day. He praised Bangladesh’s notable socio-economic progress and stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both countries.In his welcome address, High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan highlighted the shared aspirations of both nations to enhance bilateral ties and foster regional cooperation.

He reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to expanding collaboration in key sectors, including trade, air and maritime connectivity, education, tourism, culture, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and energy.He also reaffirmed Bangladesh’s broader foreign policy focus on advancing development and protecting national interests through stronger partnerships with friendly countries, and sought support for Bangladesh’s candidature for the presidency of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The ceremony also featured cultural performances showcasing Bangladesh’s rich heritage, adding vibrancy to the occasion and strengthening people-to-people connections.The event concluded with renewed commitments from both sides to deepen cooperation, promote regional peace and stability, and work towards shared prosperity, underscoring the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
