Sharjah (IN) Pakistan achieved a major diplomatic and economic milestone in October 2025 by being unanimously elected as Regional Director for South Asia (2025–27) of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) during the World Investment Conference 2025 held in Sharjah.
Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, represented Pakistan at the WAIPA General Assembly, reaffirming the country’s strong commitment to enhancing regional collaboration, promoting innovation, and encouraging sustainable investment across South Asia.The prestigious regional mandate strengthens Pakistan’s leadership role in investment promotion and reflects growing international confidence in the country’s economic direction. As Regional Director for 2025–27, Pakistan will play a key role in fostering closer coordination among Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs), promoting resilient and sustainable investment flows, and strengthening regional foreign direct investment (FDI) partnerships.
In 2026, Pakistan continues to actively advance collaboration across South Asia, focusing on facilitating cross-border investment, sharing best practices, and creating a more integrated and investor-friendly regional ecosystem.
The Board of Investment reiterated its commitment to leveraging this leadership position to deepen regional cooperation, enhance policy dialogue, and expand global investment engagement in line with the government’s broader economic vision.This achievement marks another step forward in positioning Pakistan as a proactive and credible partner in regional and global investment promotion.
