Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a meeting with Rukhsana Afzaal, Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand, to discuss regional and bilateral matters.During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The Thai Deputy Prime Minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in mediating and facilitating the ceasefire and ongoing peace talks between the United States and Iran.He also commended Pakistan’s coordination with Iran in ensuring the safe passage of Pakistani-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route.
Both sides discussed the possibility of extending similar cooperation to facilitate the safe transit of essential Thai cargo vessels through the same corridor.In addition to regional issues, the two officials reviewed bilateral relations and agreed on the importance of convening the first Thailand–Pakistan Joint Commission (JC) later this year.
The initiative is expected to further enhance cooperation and strengthen ties between the two countries across multiple sectors.
