PM Shehbaz Calls for Boost in Trade, Export Diversification During Meeting with Qatari Minister

DOHA, Feb 24 (IN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed the need to enhance bilateral trade volumes and diversify Pakistan’s exports to Qatar, particularly in agriculture, food products and value-added goods.He expressed these views during a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, who called on him during the premier’s official visit to Doha. Dr. Al-Sayed also serves as chairman of the Pak-Qatar Joint Business Taskforce.The two sides reviewed ongoing bilateral trade and economic cooperation and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan–Qatar relations.

They discussed follow-up measures regarding the 6th Session of the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreed decisions.Highlighting Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies, the prime minister underscored the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in promoting and facilitating foreign investment.Dr. Al-Sayed reiterated Qatar’s keen interest in expanding economic cooperation and strengthening private-sector and business-to-business linkages between the two countries.Both sides agreed to convene a meeting of the joint task force, comprising relevant officials from Pakistan and Qatar, during the month of Ramadan to deliberate on concrete investment proposals for Qatari investment in Pakistan.The meeting reflected the shared resolve of both nations to further deepen cooperation in trade, investment and industrial collaboration.Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.
