Punjab Schools to Reopen April 1 with Five-Day Week: Rana Sikandar Hayat

Educational institutions across Punjab will reopen from April 1, operating five days a week, provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced.The minister made it clear that no hybrid system—such as three or four-day school weeks—will be allowed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to regular academic schedules.He also revealed that monitoring of 246 matriculation examination centers is being carried out through CCTV cameras to ensure transparency and proper oversight.

Highlighting upcoming reforms, the minister said changes are being made to the academic calendar to provide students appearing in next year’s exams with adequate preparation time.Rana Sikandar Hayat acknowledged the challenges of online learning, noting that it is difficult to give full attention to students in virtual classes, but stressed the need for focus during lectures.He further shared that 70 percent of free textbooks have already been delivered across districts in Punjab, ensuring students have access to essential learning materials.
