SZABMU Convocation 2026: 800 Graduates Awarded Degrees, Gold Medals Conferred on High Achievers

Islamabad: Approximately 800 graduates were awarded degrees across various disciplines at the convocation ceremony of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU). The graduating cohort included 140 postgraduate students (PhD, MPhil, MDS, MS, MD, and Basic Medical Sciences), 400 MBBS graduates, 100 BDS graduates, and 150 students from DPT, Allied Health Sciences, and Nursing programmes. Gold medals were also conferred upon outstanding students in recognition of their academic excellence.Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf attended the ceremony as the nominee of the Chancellor, President Asif Ali Zardari, and distributed degrees and gold medals among distinction holders.

Addressing the graduates, Raja Pervez Ashraf said that young doctors represent the future of Pakistan’s healthcare system, emphasizing that research, competence, and integrity are the key pillars of success in medical education. He highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern healthcare and urged graduates to adopt innovation and commit to lifelong learning.He also appreciated the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, stating that the university is making remarkable progress under his guidance. “Graduates today are not merely receiving degrees; they are taking on a national responsibility,” he remarked, adding that doctors serve as ambassadors of humanity, ethics, and service.Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, in his address, noted that SZABMU has emerged as a leading federal medical university over the past decade, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and impactful research to meet evolving health challenges.Raja Pervez Ashraf further assured support for allocating land and establishing a dedicated campus for the university, expressing confidence that SZABMU will soon rank among the country’s top medical institutions.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Controller of Examinations Dr. Afsheen Masnoor, formally marking the graduates’ transition into professional life.Gold medals were awarded to top-performing students from various disciplines, including Dr. Sohail Sabir, Dr. Faiza Rehman, Fatima Jaweria, Usama Khalil Qadri, Shafaq Maqsood, Fazeela Tahir, Sidra Tayyab, Rabia Shahbaz, Fatima Humayune, Rimsha Shehnaz, Ayesha Naeem, Rehana Tabassum, Dr. Muhammad Shais Khan, Dr. Bushra Anam Ali, Shuraym Ashraf Ghouri, Hareem Binte Saleem, Arzu Fatima, Shagufta Yaqoob, Syeda Jawairiya Mukarram, Laiba Shameem, Farah Naz, Iffat Maqbool, Sehar Kanwal, Nighat Saeed, Amna Shafi, Laraib Abbas, and Ameera Shahid for their outstanding academic achievements.
