Vietnam Envoy Underscores Enduring Friendship with Cuba

Courtesy call in Islamabad highlights historic solidarity and continued cooperation

Islamabad, February 27, 2026 — The Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Damián Cordero Torres, at the Vietnamese Embassy for a cordial courtesy call marked by warmth and longstanding friendship.The meeting reflected the historic and steadfast ties between Vietnam and Cuba — a relationship rooted in shared struggles for independence, sovereignty and national development. Both envoys exchanged views on the enduring brotherhood between their nations, forged through decades of mutual support and solidarity.Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent and principled support for Cuba, underscoring the special relationship nurtured by generations of leaders and upheld by the Communist Party, government and people of Vietnam. He emphasized that the friendship between the two countries remains a model of loyalty and cooperation in international relations.

During the discussions, Ambassador Cordero Torres briefed his Vietnamese counterpart on recent developments concerning Cuba, including challenges arising from actions by the United States government. He expressed deep appreciation for Vietnam’s unwavering and unconditional support during difficult periods, particularly in the context of longstanding external pressures.

Ambassador Pham reiterated Vietnam’s solidarity with the Cuban people and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across political, economic and cultural spheres. He also conveyed his best wishes for Ambassador Cordero Torres’ successful tenure in Pakistan.Both ambassadors agreed to continue close coordination and regular exchanges, ensuring that the historic Vietnam–Cuba partnership remains vibrant and forward-looking.The courtesy visit once again demonstrated the depth of trust and mutual respect that define relations between Hanoi and Havana, reinforcing a partnership that continues to stand resilient in changing global circumstances.
