Islamabad: A new spell of rain, thunderstorms and snowfall is expected across multiple regions of Pakistan, with authorities issuing warnings about potential flooding and weather-related disruptions.According to forecasts, snowfall is likely in the northern and mountainous areas, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is expected in several districts of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and KP.In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adverse weather conditions are predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mingora, Battagram, Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.Authorities have warned of a potential flood risk in parts of KP, particularly Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Mardan, with the threat expected to continue until April 5.In Sindh, rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is forecast in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan.Similarly, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are expected to receive rain and snowfall in areas such as Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Astore, Diamer, Kharmang, Shigar, Ghizer, Nagar, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Poonch, Kotli, Mirpur, Bhimber, and Neelum Valley.In Balochistan, rain along with strong winds and windstorms is likely in Quetta, Zhob, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Ziarat, Kalat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Pishin, Barkhan, Sibi, Nushki, Khuzdar, Awaran, Washuk, Panjgur, Turbat, Gwadar, and Lasbela.The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has directed provincial and district administrations to remain on high alert. It warned that strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms could damage weak structures, trees, crops, and power lines, while heavy rain may disrupt traffic and increase accident risks. Snowfall in hilly areas could also lead to road blockages and landslides.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully, and follow instructions issued by local authorities. Tourists planning visits to northern areas are urged to check weather and road conditions in advance. The NDMA has also encouraged the public to stay updated through its mobile application, Pak NDMA Disaster Alert.
