TİKA, PPAF Join Hands to Promote Climate-Smart Saffron Farming in AJK

Islamabad: The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote high-value saffron cultivation among smallholder farmers in Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Under the initiative, 150 farming households will receive support including certified saffron bulbs, agricultural tools, technical training and assistance in establishing market linkages.The project aims to promote climate-smart and sustainable agriculture, create new livelihood opportunities for rural communities and enhance the income potential of small-scale farmers.

Special emphasis will also be placed on women’s participation in saffron cultivation and related economic activities.The partnership reflects growing cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan in supporting sustainable livelihoods and climate-resilient agricultural practices in AJK.
