RAWALPINDI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman criticised the government on Sunday over rising inflation, fuel prices and what he described as inadequate public services, calling for changes to the existing system.Addressing a public gathering at Liaquat Bagh, he alleged that the administration had attempted to create hurdles for the event but JI workers managed to hold the gathering.
The JI chief also questioned the government’s legitimacy, alleging that political leaders who had been rejected by the public were brought to power through “Form 47”.He said people were facing difficulties due to rising prices and a lack of adequate healthcare and other basic facilities. He called for those responsible for the situation to be held accountable.
Referring to JI’s ongoing protest campaign, Naeemur Rehman said critics had predicted that the demonstrations would lose momentum. He claimed that protests were continuing in several cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Chitral.
