ISLAMABAD, October 28, 2026: Syed Aman Shah, Provincial President of Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, has called for an appropriate reduction in interest rates, urging the government to introduce effective economic measures to promote business activities, encourage investment and provide relief to the public.Reacting to the State Bank of Pakistan’s decision to increase the policy rate by 0.5 percentage points, from 11.5% to 12%, he said the higher interest rate could further increase financial pressure on the business community, industrialists and investors.
He noted that high borrowing costs create significant challenges for businesses and industry, negatively affecting economic growth, employment opportunities and the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. He stressed that the government and relevant financial institutions should adopt policies aimed at reducing the cost of doing business, encouraging investment and supporting industrial expansion.Syed Aman Shah further observed that inflation, unemployment and declining purchasing power have already placed a substantial burden on the public. He emphasized that economic decisions must take into account the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens, small traders, industrialists and the middle class. He urged the government to take practical steps to ensure economic stability, stimulate business activity and provide meaningful relief to the people.
An appropriate reduction in interest rates, he said, could help encourage investment, expand economic activity and generate new employment opportunities. He reaffirmed that Awaam Pakistan Party supports economic policies focused on strengthening the national economy, facilitating businesses, increasing investment and improving living standards. He emphasized that the benefits of economic growth should reach all segments of society rather than remain limited to a small portion of the population.
