BISHKEK, Sep 1 (IN): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on Tuesday reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the long-standing and friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus and taking bilateral cooperation to new heights.The two leaders held a meeting on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where they reviewed the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation between the two countries.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the leaders noted with satisfaction the robust cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus in political, trade, economic, defence and cultural fields.Recalling President Lukashenko’s historic visit to Pakistan in November 2024 and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Belarus in April 2025, the two leaders agreed to further expand bilateral cooperation in key priority areas, including trade, industry, agriculture, information technology and vocational training.The leaders also expressed their resolve to build on the momentum generated by high-level exchanges and further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
As Pakistan prepares to assume the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm and cordial invitation to President Lukashenko to visit Pakistan next year.The invitation reflected Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen high-level engagement with Belarus and promote closer cooperation within the SCO framework.
