ASTANA: Kazakhstan has been declared the winner of the overall medal standings at the VI World Nomad Games, according to Kyrgyz President’s press secretary Askat Alagozov, as quoted by Qazinform News Agency.In a statement shared on Facebook, Alagozov said the VI World Nomad Games concluded as a major international sporting festival, featuring high-level competition and strong participation from athletes across the region.
He particularly highlighted the thrilling competitions in kok-boru and zher-ulaq, saying the events showcased the exceptional skills and determination of both Kyrgyz and Kazakh teams.Despite the intense rivalry on the field, Alagozov stressed that the competition remained friendly, with no disputes among supporters. He described the Games as a celebration of unity and mutual respect between the two neighboring and brotherly nations.According to Alagozov, the only technical issue arose over the calculation of the medal standings.
The Organizing Committee decided to count the medals won by three Kazakh athletes separately, resulting in Kazakhstan taking the top position in the overall standings.Alagozov congratulated Kazakhstan on the achievement, referring to the country as a nation of “brothers,” while also praising Kyrgyz athletes for their strong performances, skill and endurance throughout the Games.He emphasized that the medal table represents only one aspect of sporting success.
The real achievement of the VI World Nomad Games, he said, was the successful conduct of competitions in a spirit of fair play, mutual respect and friendly rivalry, demonstrating once again the close ties and unity between the Kyrgyz and Kazakh peoples.
Earlier, Qazinform reported, citing the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, that the World Nomad Games do not maintain an official overall medal or team ranking by country, with athletes’ results recorded separately for each sport.Nevertheless, Kazakhstan finished at the top of the reported overall medal tally, securing 74 medals — 32 gold, 20 silver and 22 bronze.
