ISLAMABAD, May 9, 2026: In a significant development for Pakistan’s healthcare and industrial sector, the country’s first national platform, the “Institute of Pakistan Medical Device Industry,” was officially inaugurated in Islamabad.
The ceremony was attended by leading industrialists, academicians, policymakers, representatives of regulatory authorities, and distinguished figures from the public health sector.Addressing the event, speakers emphasized the need to promote medical technology, diagnostic facilities, and innovation in the healthcare sector. They noted that Pakistan’s medical device industry continues to face multiple challenges due to limited resources, inconsistent industrial support, and the lack of industry-friendly policies.
The speakers stressed that without encouraging local manufacturing, investment, and innovation, it would be difficult to meet the growing healthcare needs of the country. They further highlighted that confidence in local industry is a vital step toward achieving self-reliance in the healthcare sector.Representatives from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Health Services Academy, COMSATS, and other national institutions also attended the ceremony and described the initiative as a major milestone for Pakistan’s medical device industry.
Participants also expressed concern over the rising prevalence of infectious diseases, including Hepatitis C and HIV, in Pakistan. The speakers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening local industry and stated that the establishment of the Institute of Pakistan Medical Device Industry marks the beginning of a new era of public health advancement and industrial stability in the country.
