Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held the sixth meeting of the Kazakhstan–Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, reaffirming the strong brotherly ties and expanding strategic partnership between the two nations.President Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan considers Türkiye a reliable and important partner, emphasizing that the deep historical and cultural bonds between the two countries continue to strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation.
He announced that both sides would adopt a new declaration on “Eternal Friendship and Enhanced Strategic Partnership,” aimed at deepening political, economic, and cultural relations.The two leaders discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation, with bilateral trade turnover increasing by 8.8 percent last year to exceed $5.4 billion. Kazakhstan also expressed readiness to boost exports to Türkiye across 34 categories of goods worth more than $630 million.Special attention was given to cooperation in agriculture, transport, logistics, energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, defense industries, healthcare, and tourism.
Both sides highlighted the growing strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and encouraged greater Turkish participation in logistics projects linked to the ports of Kuryk and Aktau.President Tokayev also welcomed Turkish investment in Kazakhstan’s non-resource sectors and praised ongoing projects by Turkish companies in aviation, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development.Cultural and educational cooperation was another major focus of the meeting. Kazakhstan confirmed plans to open Maarif Foundation schools in Astana and Almaty, while a branch of Türkiye’s Gazi University is expected to begin operations in Shymkent soon. Around 14,000 Kazakh students are currently studying in Türkiye.
President Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening ties with Kazakhstan across all sectors and said both countries aim to increase bilateral trade to $15 billion. He stressed the importance of implementing the 67-point action plan adopted during the recent Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation meeting held in Astana.The meeting also included participation from senior ministers and business leaders from both countries, reflecting the growing depth of Kazakhstan–Türkiye cooperation across political, economic, and humanitarian fields.
