ISLAMABAD: (PR: Dated May 29, 2026): The fire that broke out yesterday at various locations in the Margalla Hills National Park, including the Golra Range and Bahara Kahu Range, was brought under control late at night.According to the details, more than 120 staff members from the Environment Wing participated in the firefighting operation. Relevant environment officers, staff and Assistant Commissioners ensured continuous monitoring of the firefighting effort.In the operation to extinguish the fire in the forests of Tumair, under the Rawalpindi Forest Department more than 25 staff members from the CDA Environment Wing participated.
Over 80 percent of the forest area in Tumair has been brought under control. The fire that broke out at Margalla Hill National Park near Loondha Dara in the Golra Range was alos brought under control. A team of 48 personnel from the Environment Wing participated in the firefighting operation. After the fire was brought under control, the cooling process has properly begun.In line with the direction of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf, Environment Wing and ICT officers remained present in the field and personally supervised the operation.On this occasion, CDA administration strongly appealed to the public to refrain from throwing cigarette butts, trash and glass bottles in the Margalla Hills National Park during the fire season. Similarly avoid barbecues and bonfires in the forest.
Chairman CDA said that citizens should cooperate with us in protecting the Margalla Hills National Park to preserve the natural beauty of Islamabad. He directed that a formal investigation be conducted into the incidents of fire and that strict legal action be taken against the elements involved in such fire incidents.
