Russian Ambassador Delivers Lecture on Russia–Pakistan Relations at Bahria University

Islamabad, February 18: The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, delivered a detailed lecture on Russia–Pakistan relations to students at Bahria University.During his address, the Ambassador highlighted that despite the complex and often challenging nature of international relations, cooperation between Moscow and Islamabad has remained constructive over the decades. He pointed to major industrial projects carried out in Pakistan with the support of the former Soviet Union in the 1970s and 1980s. These include the establishment of Pakistan Steel Mills and the Guddu Thermal Power Plant, which he described as symbols of long-standing bilateral cooperation.Ambassador Khorev emphasized that contemporary Russia–Pakistan ties are marked by growing political dialogue, expanding economic engagement, and strengthened humanitarian and cultural exchanges.

He also briefed students on the evolving situation in and around Ukraine, outlining what he described as the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and criticizing the role of Western countries in destabilizing the Eurasian region. The Ambassador underscored Russia’s position regarding the protection of the rights of Russian-speaking communities in Ukraine.On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Khorev held a meeting with the Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral Abid Hameed HI(M). Both sides discussed prospects for enhancing collaboration with leading Russian universities and expressed keen interest in further strengthening academic partnerships and institutional cooperation.
