AJK Accelerates Digital Governance Drive to Bring Public Services Online

MUZAFFARABAD, Sep 28 (IN): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has accelerated efforts to modernize public service delivery through technology, with practical measures underway to transition government operations to digital platforms.AJK Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani has directed authorities to operationalise the official AJK Digital Portal at the earliest, emphasizing the need to make public services easier, faster and more transparent for citizens, according to an official. He said the initiative would significantly reduce paper-based procedures and minimize the need for citizens to make repeated physical visits to government offices.

The official said the digital portal would enable citizens to access a wide range of public services online from their homes, benefiting both residents of AJK and the Kashmiri diaspora living around the world. In the initial phase, all government services that can be readily shifted to digital platforms will be integrated into the portal. The digital governance initiative aims to improve administrative efficiency, enhance transparency, facilitate public access to services and reduce the time and costs involved for citizens. The official said the AJK government is also benefiting from the technical expertise and institutional experience of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to promote modern governance standards. The digitalization drive is a key component of the AJK IT Department’s 100-day reform agenda, aimed at strengthening IT infrastructure and bringing public service delivery in line with modern technological standards.
