Gujranwala:President of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ali Humayun Butt, has urged the government to provide meaningful relief to the industrial sector in the upcoming federal budget, rather than imposing additional taxes on already taxed businesses.
In a statement issued in the context of the forthcoming budget, he emphasized that Gujranwala is a key industrial hub of the country, playing a vital role in economic stability and employment generation. Therefore, he stressed that the business community must be supported through tax reductions and incentives to ensure its survival.Ali Humayun Butt highlighted the need for a fair and comprehensive taxation system, stating that all sectors of the economy should be brought into the tax net.
However, he firmly opposed imposing any additional or unnecessary taxes on already registered and documented industries that are contributing significantly to the economy. He further noted that the industrial sector is already under severe pressure due to rising electricity and gas prices, as well as increasing production costs. Instead of pushing manufacturers further into distress, he suggested that expanding the tax base would be a more effective and sustainable approach for strengthening the national economy.
