JD Vance Expected to Lead Next Round of US-Iran Talks as Ceasefire Holds

US Vice President JD Vance is likely to head a potential second round of negotiations with Iranian officials, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing sources.According to the report, Vance is expected to lead fresh talks if a meeting takes place before the current ceasefire expires next week.

The initial round of negotiations was held in Islamabad over the weekend, aimed at ending the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran that began on February 28. However, no agreement was reached, and efforts are now underway to organize another round of dialogue.Pakistan had brokered a two-week ceasefire on April 8, which continues to hold.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump indicated that talks could resume in Pakistan within the next two days.Both Washington and Tehran have reportedly shown willingness to suspend Iran’s uranium enrichment, but disagreements remain over the duration of the pause. The United States is also pushing for the dismantling of Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
