Kazakhstan to Maintain Strong Economic Growth Despite Regional Challenges: ADB

ASTANA, Jul 9 (IN): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has projected Kazakhstan’s economy to grow by 4.5% in both 2026 and 2027, highlighting the country’s resilience despite slower regional growth and persistent inflationary pressures linked to disruptions in global energy markets.According to the ADB’s latest economic outlook, economic activity across developing Asia remained steady in the first quarter of 2026, supported by strong domestic demand despite elevated energy prices and supply chain challenges resulting from tensions in the Middle East.

The report forecasts Kazakhstan’s inflation rate at 10.4% in 2026, with consumer price growth expected to ease to 9.5% in 2027 as inflationary pressures gradually moderate. While the ADB revised its overall growth forecast for developing Asia and the Pacific downward to 4.9% for 2026, it said the region continues to benefit from resilient domestic demand and a gradual recovery in business activity following the recent energy market shock.

The bank warned that the regional outlook remains vulnerable to renewed geopolitical tensions, tighter global financial conditions, higher commodity prices and ongoing trade uncertainty.Separately, the ADB recently approved a $70 million concessional loan to support the second phase of Kyrgyzstan’s Sustainable Fiscal Management and Governance Improvement Program.
