Moscow has been adorned with striking flags and banners ahead of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day on May 9, marking the defeat of Nazism in World War II.Footage captured on Tuesday shows elaborate decorations across key locations, including Red Square, Manezhnaya Square, Kutuzovsky Prospekt, and areas near the Russian Defence Ministry on Arbat Street.
Moscow Deputy Governor Pyotr Biryukov stated that more than 3,500 decorative installations will be set up across the capital by May 9. He noted that red—symbolizing the Victory Banner—remains the dominant theme in this year’s decorations.According to city authorities, one of the largest displays will be featured at the VDNKh complex, showcasing a grand arrangement of flags along with an 11-meter-tall star. Bridges, metro stations, railway hubs, and waterfront areas are also being decorated as part of the celebrations.
Victory Day is traditionally observed on May 9 in Russia, CIS countries, and several other parts of the world to commemorate the end of World War II.
