ISLAMABAD, July 19: Pakistan and China have signed investment and business agreements worth US$1.4 billion at the conclusion of the two-day Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference in Islamabad, marking a major milestone in strengthening bilateral economic and industrial ties.The conference brought together more than 250 Chinese companies and a large number of Pakistani businesses, resulting in 42 agreements worth approximately US$850 million on the final day alone. The deals span key sectors including pharmaceuticals, vaccine production, medical devices, healthcare technology, and industrial manufacturing.
The agreements are expected to facilitate local manufacturing of medicines, vaccines, and medical equipment, promote technology transfer, reduce reliance on imports, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare and industrial sectors.Business-to-business meetings between Pakistani and Chinese firms also explored opportunities for joint ventures, industrial partnerships, supply chain development, and long-term investments across multiple sectors.
Officials described the conference as a landmark event that will accelerate industrial modernization, enhance export potential, and reinforce the strategic economic partnership between Pakistan and China.FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh welcomed the agreements, saying the US$1.4 billion investment commitments demonstrate Chinese investors’ confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and will support industrial growth, foreign investment, technology transfer, and job creation.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat also termed the conference a significant success, stating that the agreements will strengthen local industries, expand exports, and deepen business cooperation between the two countries.Experts believe the investment commitments will boost Pakistan’s industrial output, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), generate employment, and open new avenues for sustainable economic growth under the Pakistan-China strategic partnership. The successful conclusion of the conference reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to expanding mutually beneficial trade, investment, and industrial collaboration.
