ISLAMABAD, Aug 06 (IN):Seventeen Sudanese engineers have successfully completed an eight-week advanced training programme in cybersecurity, data analytics and cloud computing, organised jointly by the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES).
The specialised training programme, held from June 6 to August 6, concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony at the FAST-NUCES Islamabad Campus, where certificates were awarded to the participating engineers.The programme aimed to enhance participants’ professional capabilities in emerging technologies, including digital security, cloud-based systems management and advanced data analysis.
The ceremony was attended by Sudan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, FAST-NUCES Rector Dr. Aftab Ahmad Maroof, Islamabad Campus Director Prof. Dr. Waseem Shahzad, faculty members, instructors, COMSTECH officials and Sudanese trainees.Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary highlighted that human resource development and advanced technical education were key priorities of COMSTECH for strengthening scientific and technological capabilities among OIC member states.
He said that providing professional training opportunities to engineers, scientists and experts from countries facing challenging circumstances reflected the spirit of cooperation and solidarity within the Muslim world.Prof. Choudhary appreciated FAST-NUCES for organising the specialised programme and acknowledged the support of the Embassy of Sudan and the Prime Institute of Health Sciences for facilitating the stay and hospitality of the trainees.Sudanese Ambassador Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig thanked COMSTECH, FAST-NUCES and the Government of Pakistan for supporting Sudan through educational and professional development initiatives.
He termed the training programme a practical example of cooperation among OIC countries and expressed hope that collaboration between Sudan and Pakistan would expand further in academic, scientific and technological sectors.FAST-NUCES Rector Dr. Aftab Ahmad Maroof said the university was committed to sharing its expertise with professionals from Sudan and other OIC member states. He added that future cooperation could be extended to fields including cybersecurity, semiconductor technology, chip design and data sciences.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Ahmed Mohamed Alhafiz Hassan Zainalabdin thanked COMSTECH and FAST-NUCES, saying the training had significantly improved participants’ practical skills and would help them contribute to Sudan’s digital transformation and institutional development.The organisers said the initiative was part of broader efforts to promote knowledge exchange, specialised training and capacity building among professionals from OIC member countries.
