ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met with Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan H.E. Paulo Miguel Guedes Dominguez at his residence in Islamabad and discussed ways to further strengthen Pakistan–Portugal relations.
Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, education, culture and the blue economy. He invited Portuguese companies and investors to explore Pakistan’s growing economic potential and pursue mutually beneficial partnerships.Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also underscored the importance of parliamentary cooperation, people-to-people contacts and labour mobility. He called for stronger collaboration between Pakistani and Portuguese universities through student and faculty exchanges, as well as joint research initiatives.
The Chairman Senate appreciated Portugal’s continued support for Pakistan’s GSP Plus status and highlighted the important role of the Pakistani community in Portugal as a bridge between the two countries.Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer engagement and deeper cooperation, with a shared resolve to further strengthen Pakistan–Portugal relations across multiple sectors.
