ISLAMABAD, Oct 8 (IN): Pakistan and Tajikistan on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations as Islamabad hosted a grand ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence Day, highlighting the enduring bonds of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal attended the ceremony as chief guest, while Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Senator Talha Mahmood were among the distinguished guests.
The event was hosted by Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda, who welcomed the chief guest, diplomats, senior government officials, business representatives and members of civil society.The ceremony featured a cake-cutting ceremony, with Ahsan Iqbal, Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda and other dignitaries jointly cutting the commemorative cake to mark Tajikistan’s 35th Independence Day.Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the historical, cultural and civilizational linkages between Pakistan and Tajikistan and expressed their resolve to further expand bilateral cooperation.They emphasized the vast potential for cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, energy, transport and regional connectivity, noting that enhanced connectivity could facilitate trade, strengthen people-to-people contacts and contribute to regional economic integration.
Particular emphasis was placed on tourism, with the speakers highlighting the rich cultural heritage, historical sites and scenic landscapes of both countries as areas offering significant opportunities for greater collaboration.The dignitaries also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the energy sector and improving regional connectivity for promoting sustainable economic development and shared prosperity.Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda appreciated Pakistan’s continued support and warm hospitality towards the people of Tajikistan and reaffirmed his country’s desire to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the peace, prosperity and continued progress of Tajikistan and its people, along with wishes for stronger bonds of friendship, brotherhood and mutual understanding between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
