PM Shehbaz, Qatari Amir Emphasize De-escalation for Regional Peace and Stability

DOHA, Apr 16 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Doha on Thursday, held a warm and cordial meeting with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar.The meeting, held at the Amiri Diwan, focused on the latest regional and international developments, particularly the evolving situation in the Middle East.

At the outset, the Amir welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation, appreciating Pakistan’s role in supporting efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and promote diplomatic dialogue aimed at ensuring peace and stability.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of attacks against Qatar and other Gulf countries, reaffirming full solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar.Both leaders stressed the importance of de-escalation and enhanced international coordination to maintain regional security and stability, including ensuring the uninterrupted flow of global energy supply chains.

They also reviewed bilateral relations and explored avenues to further strengthen cooperation in key areas such as security, defense, and energy, with a view to deepening the partnership between the two countries.The meeting was attended by senior Qatari officials, including Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with other high-ranking representatives.

On the Pakistani side, the delegation included Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs; Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information; and Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.The Amir and Prime Minister also held a one-on-one meeting, exchanging views on matters of mutual interest and reaffirming the importance of continued coordination amid evolving regional developments.Following the discussions, the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister and his delegation.
