Talks with Samruk-Kazyna focus on rare minerals exploration and expanding investment in Rwanda’s growing mining sector.
President Paul Kagame held a meeting with a delegation led by Nurlan Zhakupov, CEO of Samruk-Kazyna, to explore new investment opportunities in Rwanda’s mining industry.The discussions at Village Urugwiro focused on cooperation in strategic minerals, natural resource investment, and research into rare and rare-earth metals.
Officials highlighted the growing partnership between Rwanda and Kazakhstan following a cooperation agreement signed in 2025 covering trade, mining, technology, and agriculture.Rwanda’s mining sector generated about $1.7 billion in 2024 and aims to reach over $2 billion by 2029, as the government continues expanding exploration of lithium, gold, and other valuable minerals while attracting international investors.
