ISLAMABAD: Senator Sehar Kamran, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Pakistan-Iraq Parliamentary Friendship Committee, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad, where she met with the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Iraq, Mr. Khalid Karim Mohammed Zangana.During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iraq. The discussions focused on expanding legislative cooperation, particularly in the parliamentary and diplomatic spheres, while exploring new avenues to enhance collaboration between the two friendly nations.
The two sides underscored the importance of revitalizing the Pakistan-Iraq Parliamentary Friendship Committee and increasing the exchange of high-level parliamentary delegations. They also stressed the need to effectively implement existing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and promote cooperation across a wide range of sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.Senator Sehar Kamran reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the historic and friendly ties between Pakistan and Iraq, emphasizing her support for initiatives aimed at strengthening parliamentary engagement and enhancing communication between the legislative institutions of the two nations.Concluding the meeting, both sides agreed to continue close coordination, regular consultations, and reciprocal visits to further deepen bilateral relations and elevate Pakistan-Iraq cooperation to new levels across political, parliamentary, diplomatic, and other areas of mutual interest.
