Tajikistan and COMSTECH Agree to Deepen Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation

Islamabad | 29 July 2026 The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Yusuf Sharifzoda, met with Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH), to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in science, technology, innovation, education, and research.During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current state of cooperation between Tajikistan and COMSTECH within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and explored new avenues to strengthen collaboration in scientific research, technological development, innovation, higher education, and capacity building.Ambassador Sharifzoda reaffirmed Tajikistan’s strong commitment to enhancing its partnership with COMSTECH, emphasizing that science, technology, and innovation remain key priorities of the country’s national development agenda.

He noted that closer cooperation with COMSTECH would contribute significantly to sustainable development and scientific progress across OIC Member States.Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary welcomed the opportunity to further strengthen cooperation with Tajikistan and praised the country’s growing scientific and educational potential. He reiterated COMSTECH’s readiness to support joint initiatives aimed at advancing research, innovation, and human resource development.

The discussions also focused on launching joint research programmes, promoting exchanges of researchers and students, organizing specialized training courses, seminars, and international conferences, and utilizing COMSTECH’s platforms to enhance scientific and technological capacity among OIC Member States.The meeting concluded with both sides expressing satisfaction over their cordial relations and reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and education for the mutual benefit of Tajikistan, COMSTECH, and the wider OIC community.
