ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan’s industrial sector recorded 8.2% growth in value added in 2025 compared with the previous year, accounting for around 30% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Babaniyaz Yalakov said at the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF-2026).
He said industrial production in the country has been growing steadily, reflecting Turkmenistan’s ongoing economic transformation from a raw-material-based economy toward industrial, innovative and value-added development.Yalakov noted that over the past decade, Turkmenistan has been gradually developing new industrial value chains and expanding the production and export of finished industrial goods. He said the country has also made significant progress in developing its national gas-processing industry, including the establishment of a gasoline production plant and the launch of polyethylene and polypropylene production.
In recent years, new chemical facilities have also been commissioned to produce ammonia, urea and other products, using natural gas as feedstock. The government’s focus, he added, remains on the deep processing of hydrocarbons and the introduction of modern technologies. The Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF-2026) is being held in Ashgabat on October 1–2, bringing together more than 750 delegates from 50 countries, including representatives of government ministries and agencies, international financial institutions and the private sector.
