ISLAMABAD: In a symbolic gesture celebrating the upcoming 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan has donated 35 complete cricket equipment kits to Uzbekistan, underscoring its commitment to youth development, sports promotion, and stronger bilateral ties with Pakistan.
The embassy described the donation as more than just a contribution of sporting equipment, saying it reflects the vision of New Uzbekistan—a country focused on progress, international cooperation, and empowering the younger generation that will shape its future.The embassy also highlighted Uzbekistan’s remarkable achievements in recent years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including sustained economic growth, improvements in public administration, increased investment, infrastructure modernization, and a higher standard of living. It noted that Uzbekistan has strengthened its reputation as an open, dynamic, and reliable partner on the global stage.
Sports development remains a national priority, with significant investments being made in modern sports infrastructure and youth participation. The embassy pointed to the historic qualification of Uzbekistan’s national football team for the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time as a landmark achievement in the country’s sporting history.The statement further noted that cricket is gaining momentum in Uzbekistan. As one of the world’s most popular sports and a source of national pride for Pakistan, cricket offers a valuable platform for expanding people-to-people connections.
